What the chain shows
Calls on the left, puts on the right, strikes down the middle - the layout every desk expects. Each side carries open interest and its change, volume, bid and ask with sizes, last traded price and the day’s change.
On top of the raw book, every strike is priced: implied volatility from Black-76, then delta, gamma, theta, vega and rho, plus the probability of finishing in the money. You choose whether IV is solved from the mid or the last trade, and you set the risk-free rate.
- Configurable columns - show only what you use, and the layout is saved
- Strike window around the money, or the whole board
- CSV export of exactly what is on screen
- Per-symbol IV alerts on ask-IV below or bid-IV above a level
The forward is read from the chain, not the future
This is the part most chains get wrong. An option is priced off the forward for its own expiry - and the future your data feed pairs with a symbol is not always the contract those options settle against.
Measured live on 19 August 2026: CRUDEOIL’s matched future quoted 8271 while its own chain implied 8161, because the options expiring in September sit on the September future while the matched contract was August, expiring that day. Pricing off 8271 put every call’s IV about 14 volatility points below its own put at the same strike, and moved the 0.50 delta three strikes away from the money.
So the forward is solved from the chain itself by put-call parity, taken as the median across the strikes nearest the money, where both legs are liquid. The future is still used to find those strikes, and as a fallback when too few carry a two-sided quote.
Chain-wide analytics
Alongside the strikes, the page carries the numbers you would otherwise compute by hand - each one over the whole chain, never just the strikes currently on screen.
- Put-call ratio by open interest and by volume
- Max Pain - the strike where the most open interest expires worthless
- ATM implied volatility and the at-the-money straddle
- The forward, labelled with where it came from: parity, future or spot
Questions
- Which MCX contracts are covered?
- Crude oil and mini crude, gold and mini gold, silver and mini silver, and natural gas and mini natural gas. Alongside them the NSE indices - NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY - plus NSE crude and SENSEX on BSE. In total 14 instruments.
- Is the option chain live?
- Yes. Quotes stream from the broker feed over a websocket, and the page shows an explicit LIVE, STALE or OFF state driven by a five-second server heartbeat, so you always know whether what you are reading is current.
- How is implied volatility calculated?
- Black-76 on the forward, solved per strike in your browser. Where one leg of a strike has gone stale and cannot be solved, the other leg’s volatility is used - put-call parity says a single volatility prices both - and the value is flagged so you can tell.
- Can I see the next expiry?
- Yes, where it is being fed. Expiry is a dropdown on the chain header for the underlyings that carry more than one listed expiry.
